Ruche is a boutique selling vintage inspired clothing , accessories and much much more. Everything from the layout to the photography screams vintage sheek. I love it. The styling's brilliant and every thing's just awesome.

Ruche is a collaboration of everything that has inspired us from fashion, photography, design, and lifestyle."

Here are some pictures form the ruche spring lookbook.

Glittery lip tatoos!

Hey, another post. I'm sorry to everyone who already knows either about these particular ones or jsut in general that you could get make-up lip temporary tatoos. I jsut found out, and i think it is awesome!.

What are they?
These ones are glittery lipstick style tatoos. They come in a set for one mouth i think like an upper and lower lip , then you pop them out, measure it to your mouth and apply with water. Then you jsut peel it off and wallah, you have lipstick with a ton of glitter that in theory stays on. If anybody has/is going to try this could you let me know how it went on? i'm intrigued, but i don't suit lipstick. I'd love to see a picture or reveiw off someone if you use it :) purplestar@hull7.plus.com

heres a link to the shop CLICK ME, And here is a video on how to apply them for you ;) im not in the video, but if you do mistake me for her (her being a supermodel and all) i would be "well" chuffed.

Mila Kunis, new fashion icon?

She's quickly making a name for herself after staring in brand new film "friends with benefits" with co star jsutin timberlake. After just glimsping at her wardrobe history i realise not only is she an up an coming acting superstar but also a new face of fashion? thats up for you to decide. I've put together a few of her recent outfits (4) and i'll leave you to make up your mind, with a bit of persuasion on my half.

Here she is in russia for the friends with benefits moscow premiere (what a mouthfull), wearing the outfit from the Elle Saab 2011 couture collection. She looks like she has just stepped of the catwalk, i absolutley love it. She is also wearing Elle Saab shoes. I think she looks liek a ballenrina and has definatley got the hautre vote from me. Also, it ties in perfectly with the theme of her last film which was "black swan".
Dress Details:
  • Plunging neckline
  • Beige mesh front
  • Beading on the mesh
  • Embroidary on the flutter sleeves and shoulders.

Here she is wearing a gorgous red lanvin dress. It shows off her figure and her tan beatifully with both the colour and the bodycon shape. It has an off the shoulder sweetheart style neckline, this has broadened the shoulders slightly which shows off her curves as it balances out ehr hips making ehr waist appear even smaller. Her hair has jsut been straightened and kept off her face by wearing it down her back, To acheieve this look use a silky conditioner like this tresemme product and follow up with some Ghd's. The overall look is both simple and sexy, being finished with only 4 accesories, a pair of long earings, some black pumps and 2 simple bracelets.

Not only do i think she is excelling in the world of fashion and acting, company magazine seem to aswell. She has scored the front cover! i mean i got offered a coupel of front covers but i turned them down, i mean i am just so busy busy busy (that was a joke...) Starting with the dress, the stylist here has very much channeld the 60's era in this dress. Ther architectural , bold print, storng cut of the dress and square belt is definatley 60's glamour. Her hair has lots of volume and is very much that grunge sort of feel (not dirty or greasy or trampy), as in theat straight , almost slightly wavy, effortless bed hair. To get this, i recommend tipping your head upside down after blow drying your hair and spraying this volumising spray over your hair, tip back up and wallah. You could allways make adjsutments with hairspray and ghd's/ other straightners. There are not any accesories in this look besides the belt which ahs a wooden appearence. They do handcrafted wooden belts here. The makeup is simple , exept for the eyes which are sporting a brown smoky eyed effect. For a make-up tutorial on how to do this click here.

Here she is at the spike tv awards in 200d in los angeles, California. I really liek this look, i think on the wrong person it could look sort of peacocky'y (not a word :/ ) but on her it just emphesises how thin she is and also shows off her lovley tanned legs. I found two dresses , different variations of this one, the first has lots of detailed sequins on the bodice, it is strapless and has a ruffled skirt just liek this one, you can find that here. And the other one is also black and strapless, with a softer black skirt here. The shoes are a contrasting black and cream/white. New look do a really nice pair of contrasting, high heeled t strap shoes in black and white. They arn't the same as these but are really nice and will still enable you to get the look. Her hair is short, glossy and lightly curled and she is wearing an over sized metal cuff. Finished with a simple manicure and natural make-up. Try this home french mannicure kit.

How to wear night jewelry during the day

all rights reserved, not my photo
Most people have that necklace or bracelet that they wear only at nights, be it pandora or diamonds or other. But there is a way you can bring the bling (like what i did there?) out of hiding and wear it during the day. The key is to mix and match untill you find a conmbination fo jewelry that you would wear every day and your glam stuff. For example wear your pearls with some costume jewelry, a set of different coloured beads or just put it on for a bit of a boost. Wear that high-end cuff with 2 bangles in similar but different colours/shades. Its all about matching it to what your wearing, how your feeling anf where your going. As you can see , left, shes worn a very intricate , sparkling necklace with a reasonabley plain beaded necklace wrapped around a few times. Its little tricks like this eg. wrapping the necklace round twice and putting another one over the top or putting a long necklace and a short necklace together. Keep playing around untill you find a match, but don't be scared to wear jewelry during the day. You only live once.

Chokers to be in this autumn/winter?

Valentino, 2011-12  ,all rights reserved.
disclaimer: i do not own the photos all rights resevred to the owners and vogue.
That's right, you read the title, well you probably didn't because i don't think anyone actually reads this blog but you get my drift. It is thought that the warm embrace of a choker could be re-united with our necks once more. Bit cheesy...moving on. It has been spotted on many a catwalk and i think this popular but forgotten accessory could be making a comeback. From Gothic to Egyptian to elegant chandelier. There are so many styles and it's such an easy way to add edge or a touch of class to an outfit, where ever and whenever you need it.

How:
  • Add a pearl/ fangly diamond choker to a floor length gown to instantly add elegance and glamour.
  • Wrap multiple starnds of pearls/beads/crystal type things around your neck to intergrate both the choker and the 40's trend.
  • Add a choker to dress up a simple neckline on a blouse, wrap dress or suit.
  • If you are going for a big neck encasing choker wear small earings that match or none at all so its not too overcrowding.
Designers, who? (to give you an idea):

Lady Gaga's meat dress lives on

all rights resevred to original owners
Not literally because it's a bunch of animal carcass's so it can;t actually live on in a breathing sense, more in a spritual fame sorta way. If fame can be spiritual.

When and where?
Lady Gaga known for her outlandish fashion statements over the years first wore the dress to the MTV video awards last year.
Why?
Apparently it was supposed to be making a powerful political statement about how the US army should not discriminate against Homosexuals by not letting them join the army. I don't know about you but i wasn't getting that vibe. She said the US is preventing its military from enjoying "the greatest cut of meat my country has to offer"."
What?
A dress made entirley from meat. It was made out of prime rib and steak.

What has happened to this dress since that night? The dress is going to be showcased until february in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, America. The dress was kept in a meat locker, covered with chemicals, dried by taxidermists and painted to appear fresh. Thats a lot of trouble over a dress, i was personally thinking more wack the oven on, whip up some fries and enjoy a load of steak , but every man, woman and popstar to themselves.

40's fashion suspected come back

No copyright intened, all rights reserved to vogue
It has come to my attention that we could be expecting a comeback of 40's glamour this autumn/winter.

What is 40's fashion?
Some must have key items and accessories are:
  • Pussy bows
  • Skinny belts
  • Pencil skirts
  • Fake fur
  • Pearls
  • Gloves
  • Big clutch bags
  • Sun glasses
  • And a ton of class and womanly charm.
Who's done 40's and how ( from what i have seen from the catwalk shows):
Miu Miu: fur wraps over tailored dresses.
Donna Karan: Created a sexy feminine silhouette by wrapping and twisting fabric. Used pearls and elbow length gloves. Pulled the outfits together with a classic skinny belt.
Frida Giannini at Gucci: Fedoras and pussy bow blouses.
Jonathon Saunders: lots of colour and classis pieces.

Solar powered Bikini

There's been some great weather recently and i can imagine you have all been thinking " oh no i need a brand new bikini that's unique and bursting with technology so i can swim and charge my ipod so i will never have to stop listening to music". If that is the case, and i can imagine it is, you should have a look at this. A brooklyn based designer called Andrew Schneider has created a solar powered bikini. It is capable of charging both mobile phones and MP3 players. It's completley safe as it uses a low charge and transfers the chagre straight from the bikini into the device so no electricity is stored and you can still swim (as long as you unplug everything). So if you want to be the thing all your friends are jealous about don't hesitate to get one.
How:
It uses thin, flexible strips of Photovoltaic film strips and usb connecters, don't pretend you don't know what i'm talking about.
How much:
Each handmade bikini taking around 80 hours to make comes in at just under $200.

Colour Blocking

Teeny bit about I actually love this. Its so simple, easy and bright. If you live in the Uk chances are you will have seen this sort of thing in H&M , Topshop and Primark windows. Think bold, think bright, think miss matched colours and patterns. Its back like never before but with a 70's twist. Flared jeans, full denim, Maxi skirts and highwaisted everything.

Me
Im not normally one to wear anything to bright and attention grabbing but i have treated myself to a navy highwaisted skirt from h&m, a bright turqoise vest top from primark and a luminous yellow thin belt from new look. I love this and i think the outfit actually works in practice, probably on paper it sounds awful but i like it.

Where
This look is everywhere, thanks to catwalks all over the world colour blocking is 2011's biggest trend so far. It can bring any outfit from plain to sheek but unless used carefully you could look like a walking talking rainbow but not in a goods way. In a sort of i look at you and my eyes hurt and i feel a bit queasy kind of way.

Not to be beaten asos has released lots of gorgous clothes for the colour blocking trend. Even if its not your budget or personal style you can see how colours can be linked together. If you arn't one to go as full out as the models in these pictures try co-ordinating your accesories, wearing bright bracelts, or an outfit and completley different coloured shoes. It doesn't have to be over the top.

From asos.com vest £8, belt £6, trousers £40, bag "coming soon"

Here a vest top has been tucked into a pair of different coloured trousers. The belt breaks up the outfit and contrasts with both colours. I think this look is very practical and could be adjusted for any occaision. For night A pair of bright stilletoes, for work a bold blazer and for shopping perhaps a bigger bag. Its suitable for most shapes and all ages.

from asos.com Belt £20, shorts&Top "coming soon"

I like this outfit too. It incorporates both the colour blocking trend and the high-waisted one that i see everyone doing. In this look a yellow blouse top has been tucked into a pair of bright shorts and finished off with a cute bow belt. Again this look could be taken anywhere, for the beach a big oversized bag, gladiators and sunnies, for everyday some knee high socks and side satchel and for night stilletoes, clutch and big bold chunky necklace.

From asos.com dress&belt "coming soon"

Sheek and short thats what i allways say. A blue shift dress and cut out spiral print has been teamed with a yellow waist cincher belt and a leather belt thredded through over the top. The overall look is very simple but nice. If you don't want to wear lots of luminous patterns or over the top prints this is your outfit. Its not difficult to put together, the ideas can be applied to other outfits and the pallet could suit any occaision.
For the day you could put on a big chunky cardigan in say a green with some ankle boots. For night a sparkly clutch bag in yellow and high high heels and for a vintage look , ditch the yellow belt and add a thrhifted brown weave one, some knee high colourful socks, chunky ankle boots, a satchle, some rounded brown sunglasses/any colour and a longish bold necklace with lots of bits and pieces(charms).

from asos.com vest £8, trousers "coming soon"

Who said fashion and colour blocking had to be for fashionistas?
The model (left) is colour blocking and it may not be obvious that she is because it isn't in your face, it isn't over the top and it has been done very sneakily. The overally look is simple, casual, sporty and comfy. Add some trainers and you could be off on the running track but swap them for some sandals and a hat and you could have a cosy day at the beach.

Its all about trial and error.

Summary
Ok to sum up, some highwaisted shorts, a belt and a vest top can be all you need. Stick to this basic model and then tailor it to your occaision. Wedding? swop the shorts for a skirt and add a hat. Beach? add some gladiators and some sunglasses. Work? add a blazer , swop the shorts for pants and some balley flats/low heels. Shopping? swop the vest top for an oversized t-shirt and tuck it into the shorts, throw on a cardigan, some knee high socks and a satchel with a sumemry print.

Remember it can all boil down to the accesories, a belt can add definition and a hint of colour. Sunglasses can add ease and glamour. Bracelts and necklaces can finsih a look to perfection.

Hope this helped.

Incorporate it into everyday life

I love this girl, she knows what she's talking about and she's super helpful. Thats a video showing you how she colour blocks, she's american so has some different stores to us but the ideas are the same. I recomend you subscribe <3

Create your own chocolate!

Another post today! yey for me . I hardly ever get to post because apparently writing on this blog isn't work or homework so i'm not allowed/supposed to do it during the week :/

Ok. So this website i have found lets you design your own chocolate. Its brilliant. Ever been sat their thinking i have no idea what to get *insert name/relation* for their *insert occaison*? Or been in a shop looking at a chocolate bar and thinking that would be really nice if it didn't have peanuts in or if it had more caramel or something like that? This is your website if any of the above apply to you. They do gifts , you can create for you and you can bulk buy. Heres the website : http://www.createmychocolate.com/create/chocolate/

They do a selection of recommended selections, ones others have created and nice recipes from the company itself. Its perfect because you can tailor make a chocolate bar for whomever and they are guarenteed to love it. Plus you can add messages and special/personal names.

Proccess
  1. You choose what chocolate bar you want from the options white, milk chocolate, dark and milk and white combination.
  2. Pick up to 6 toppings (more about that below)
  3. Name your "chocri"
  4. Add to cart
As an added bonus if you buy 5 bars you get 1 free! so order for all your friends. I'm your friend....

Toppings
You can add 6 toppings, some of them are truly weird! They are split into different catagories like fruit, spices or decor (& more). Here are some examples of jsut a few below:
  • Gold flakes (REAL GOLD!!!!!)
  • sprinlkes
  • Roasted almonds
  • Bannana chips
  • Cinnamon
  • Cappucino chocolate drops
  • Candied lilac
They have so many, you would have to be insane not to like any of them.

A print screen of some ready made recipes ( i personally think that takes the fun out of it but whatever)

Lilabags

I have found these really cool bags. Make sure you check them out: http://www.etsy.com/shop/lilabags?ref=seller_info

They are net bags and they remind me of feather Bowers. They are unique, colourful, fun and could easily update your outfit in seconds, be it a maxi dress, a bikini and sun hat or a night out. They are practical too, but makes it easy to find your things. Don't you just hate it when your trying to buy something or trying to get your sunglasses out or something like that and your stood looking like an idiot with your arm up to your elbow in your bag randomly pulling out old reciepts and lipgloss until you get what you went in for? But with these bags its so much easier. As demonstrated below they could just be something you grab quickly to put a magazine in for a journey and you could do things like hook your sunglasses through the gaps or a fake flower or something to make it yours. They come in so many different colours and styles, some featuring a slightly woven handle. I think they are a must have and at a reasonable £13.74 each they don't break the bank and you get free shipping! They are $22 US dollars.
